Annual Refresher Training

ALL PERSONS requiring Bloodborne Pathogens Training MUST complete annual BBP refresher training session on or before the expiration date of the previous class. Refresher BBP training is now available online or, if preferred, the classroom training may be repeated.

Refresher Training for Research and Operations Personnel

Research staff who are listed on an IBC permit requiring BBP training will automatically receive an email notification, starting 6 weeks before their training expiration date, directing them to complete their online training through TrainTraq. After completion of the class you can download your transcript for a record of your training.

Operations personnel who require annual BBP refresher training will automatically receive an email notification, starting 6 weeks before their training expiration date, directing them to complete their online refresher training through TrainTraq. After completion of the class you can download your transcript for a record of your training.

Refresher Training for Unpaid Students and Visitors

Unpaid students and visitors can complete BBP refresher training through CITI.  Contact for directions on how to access the training.

You can download a certificate of completion for your records after you have successfully completed the CITI training. We will also be able to see your training completion from our administrator view.

Agent summary training information is now available through The Texas A&M University System TrainTraq online system. These courses are offered as part of the University’s Biosafety Occupational Health Program and are intended to provide education about a specific biohazard. This information includes how an individual may be occupationally exposed, the types of exposures that place their health at risk, the nature and significance of such risks, as well as the appropriate first aid and follow up for potential exposures. This agent summary course includes information from the Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL) 5th edition from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and NIH, as well as the Pathogen Safety Data Sheets for Infectious Substances produced by the Public Health Agency of Canada. Once a course is completed, a certificate is generated as training documentation. More courses will be added regularly. If there is a specific agent you need that is not yet listed, please contact our outreach coordinator to request the material be added.
