BL2 Training Information

BL2 training covers work practices, safety equipment, and facility requirements used to work safely at biosafety levels one and two, including proper use of biological safety cabinets. Incident response and emergency spill protocols are also reviewed.

Initial In-Class Training
If you have never had BL2 training, the first session MUST be in the classroom setting. It will be held in the General Services Complex, the specific room is listed by each date, unless otherwise noted. Please bring your UIN to the session to receive credit. Click here to register.

2013 Schedule

Online Refresher Training
If you have received BL2 training in the past, you can register for an online refresher course through the CITI program. This training is only required once every three years.

For New CITI Users

• Step 1: Go to www.citiprogram.org
• Step 2: Select "New Users"
• Step 3: Participating Institutions: Texas A&M University
• Step 4: Create a username and password
• Step 5: Enter your name
• Step 6: Enter email address
• When you set up or update your CITI account information, the email used needs to match the email address in My Assistant information in iRIS. CITI allows two email addresses to be given in case a researcher wants an additional email used.
• Step 7: Complete contact information fields:
• Scroll to the bottom of the page for “On-line BL2 Training”
• Select "no" unless you are working with an additional university

For Returning CITI Users

• Step 1: Go to www.citiprogram.org
• Step 2: Log in with username and password
• Step 3: Under "My Courses," select "Add a course or update your learner groups for Texas A&M University"
• Step 4: Under Question 6, select "On-line BL2 Training"
